Wayfarer

Exploring Ideas

Wayfarer is an online marketplace that provides users with access to unique and cosy accommodations around the world. It enables travelers to find memorable and unconventional lodging options in any destination.

Brand Journey

For Wayfarer, I created branding that exudes a cosy, yet quirky feeling. I created a very natural colour tone that reflects a warm but adventurous style. The logo received a similar treatment whilst also maintaining a contemporary look that also works in a condensed format.

Midjourney, an AI art generator, with the help of Photoshop, was used to create the main imagery of Wayfarer. These visuals provide a sense of serenity, inviting the viewer to enter a unique, beautiful world.

Settling On An App

The mobile app mirrors the design of its desktop counterpart, providing users with an aesthetically pleasing and intuitive user experience. The main screen features recommended locations, a wishlist system and a search system designed with the user in mind.

Additionally, the onboarding screen is designed to quickly and easily introduce users to the app, while the hamburger menu allows less frequently used pages to be tucked away yet readily available when needed.

Each page is thoughtfully planned to consider the users natural flow, whilst also making it visually pleasing. The animations were also meticulously crafted to enhance the users experience and to give logical feedback to each user’s actions.

Seeking a Desktop App

The desktop web application offers an aesthetically pleasing and intuitive user experience. Its layout is logical and familiar, allowing users to seamlessly navigate the platform without needing any prior knowledge. Furthermore, it contains filters to cater to specific needs and a map interface to help users contextualise different accommodations.

In Motion

I developed animated mockups for each page of the app using Premiere Pro. Every component of the app was manually animated to demonstrate its operation and navigation.

I then took the screen animations and inserted them onto an iPhone model within Blender. Afterwards, I constructed a virtual studio around the phone and incorporated subtle, elegant animations to the object. Upon rendering, the final scenes provide an appealing and professional mockup, accurately depicting how the app would appear and function on a user's mobile device.
